Schools – S.T.O.P
What is it?
The School Time Obesity Prevention (S.T.O.P) programme is an in-school intervention that raises awareness of the importance of healthy eating and physical activity among children aged eight to 11. As well as exploring how they can positively influence their lives through healthy life choices, a vital secondary aim of the programme is to help reduce the number of overweight and obese children in schools.
It is presented by fully qualified and experienced nutritionists, as well as exercise professionals who present motivational workshops using interactive learning materials to help both the children and teaching staff learn more. They’re also provided with homework challenges to help include the parents as well as the children in the behavioural change process.
