Exciting opportunity available for experienced, enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Physical Activity Specialist with a passion and specialist interest in weight management. These roles will contribute to the development, provision and coordination of a Lifestyle Service delivered across Cambridgeshire. This community-based, multi component service brings together a range of different programmes under one Countywide Lifestyle Service, centred on supporting residents to lead healthier lives. The Lifestyle Service offers a personalised care package for adults and children, including families, with a focus on those overweight or obese, providing psychological support, increasing physical activity and advice on maintaining a balanced and healthy diet.

Playing a pivotal role within the service, you will be responsible for providing high quality, physical activity advice and support, including individualised exercise prescription, working within a multi-disciplinary specialist weight management team.   Providing expert physical activity advice, underpinned by a sound knowledge of theoretical principles of behaviour change, you will support children, young people and adults, across Cambridgeshire, to make informed decisions in relation to their weight, contributing towards a healthier lifestyle.

We would like to hear from you if you are experienced in:

  • Providing high quality physical activity delivery within a community-based, weight management service.
  • Delivering one to one and group interventions, for adults and / or children who are overweight or obese, with potential co-morbidities / complex needs.
  • Providing exercise interventions across a range of weight management service tiers, and health and community settings with a minimum of two years’ practise.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • And have current REPs registration Level 3 for GP Exercise referral

  • Delivering high standard nutritional care and advice within a community-based, weight management service.
  • Delivering one to one and group interventions, for adults and children who are obese, with potential co-morbidities / complex needs.
  • Delivery of specialist care and treatment in health and community settings, with a minimum 2 years’ experience.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • And have current registration with the Association of Nutritionists or BDA

Falls Prevention Health Trainer – Cambridgeshire

The Falls Prevention Health Trainer role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a keen interest and experience in working with older people and those at risk of falling, to support them to make healthier lifestyle choices and reduce their future risk of falling.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in Cambridgeshire, the Falls Prevention Health Trainer plays a key role in identifying and supporting individuals at risk of falling through community engagement, and supporting behaviour change including signposting into local services.

Ideally, you’ll have experience or qualifications in health promotion and exercise leadership, but most importantly, you’ll be a natural and passionate motivator with excellent communication skills to engage with older individuals and those at risk of falls on both a one to one and group basis.

  • Familiar with working with older individuals and knowledgeable of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and managing fall risk factors: healthy eating, increasing physical activity levels, and balance and strength training.

  • Experienced in delivering falls prevention activity in groups and through 1:1 exercise advice.

  • Flexible with a full UK licence and access to a car for work
  • And have recognised Health Trainer qualifications relevant to the role e.g., RSPH, City & Guilds and YMCA / REPs endorsed strength, balance and Chair Based Exercise qualifications
