Bristol City Council
What is it?
Our Alive ‘n’ Kicking service has two strings to it, both of which are specifically designed to help ensure our young people live a healthy lifestyle. The first is directed towards children aged 2-5 and their families in which we can help children who are either overweight or those who are fussy eaters. Embrace a broader spectrum of more nutritious – but equally delicious – foods.
We also promote physical activity among the children and focus on making positive, long-term changes to the child’s lifestyle, rather than encouraging short term fixes that may not continue to make the desired impact over longer periods of time.
The same can be said for our programme designed for children and young people aged between 5 and 16. This is about educating the children on a one to one basis – and in group sessions – on how to live their life healthily rather than forcing them onto a diet and making physical activity a fun part of their daily lives, rather than a chore.
